I recently met an old friend at a hotel for what was intended to be an afternoon romp. We didn't actually have intercourse, only a lot of kissing and some oral sex, but the feelings of regret and guilt now are beginning to grow. This was mainly her idea, as she had worked it out and gotten permission from her husband, who also was given permission to "play the field". I know this is no excuse for what I did and if it ever got out my life would be over. I feel miserable.

I think that you should phone her and arrange to meet her, and have sexual intercouse. Then you will have something to feel guilty about.
