Story help mepatsy, Female, 21, United Kingdom, london
last week i recieved a letter telling me that a previous partner had been for a check up at a local GUM clinic and that i need to go in too. it said that if i had an infection it can be treated with antibiotics.
so i went in for tests (im now waiting for the results) they treated me for chlymidia seeing as that is the most common infection and they said that i looked okay, nothing irregular. which is great....but now im worried incase i do have an infection.
im in no way a "slut" iv had 4 sexual partners and thats it.
the problem i have is that im head over heels on this guy im with, we've been together for over 3months and we're both commited and feel the same way about each other.
im so worried how he will react if i find out i have something, it would mean he has it too....thats the reality of it. i dont want to loose him.
i dont know what to do, how to tell him.........im so lost. i wont hide it from him if i do have something because i care so much about him.

| hey i just wanted to up date you on how things turned out.
i got my results back and it turns out i had chlymidia...so that night i told my boyfriend. i sat him down on his bed and he asked what was wrong because i'd been acting strangly. so i just said i had something to say, he was going to be shocked but i said that everything would be ok.
i told him that its 100% curable and then i told him what it was. i was expecting him to do something but he just said its okay, we'll sort this out together! i cried which didnt help but he was really great.
to those people who might be going throught the same thing....dont hide it. tell your partner, get help and work through it.
we have and we're better than ever. we're even planning to move in together the beginning of next year:D |

| First of all, don't blame yourself. The number of sexual partners you've had is irrelevant, the person at fault is the one who (possibly) transmitted this disease or diseases to you. I truly hope they did it unknowingly and they weren't sleeping with people while they knew they were infected.
Second, I can't imagine the grief, pain and worry you must be going through. I think it may be prudent to go ahead and tell your significant other the news you've learned. Now, on the one hand, you don't want to unnecessarily alarm him. On the other, if he finds out before you tell him, or if he ever finds out you held off on telling him, it may shatter the trust you've worked so hard to build in your relationship.
I wish you the best and don't let anyone make you feel guilty for this.
